Reverend sheryl shipman
Born Sheryl Greene, the eldest child of the late Mr. Edward L. Greene and Rose Marie Greene. Educated in the Birmingham Public School System. Graduated from Alabama Schoool of Fine Arts, majoring in Ballet and Drama. Recent graduate of The University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she received a B.S. in Criminal Justice and a minor in English. Pastor Shipman is currently seeking a Master’s of Divinity Degree from The New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with a concentration in Biblical Studies.
Pastor Shipman met and married the love of her life, Donald Shipman, July 26, 1980. They are the proud parents of 3 sons and 1 daughter, Donald Jr., Brandon, Justin and Donnesha. They have six grandchildren, Jaylyn Shipman, Diamond Shipman, McKenzie Shipman, Micah Shipman, Alaysia Smith and Dorien Shipman.
Pastor Shipman received her license to preach in 1998 and received her first pastoral appointment in 2002. She has pastored 3 churches, Hopewell AME Church, Florence, Emanuel AME Church and Mount Zion AME Church, Trussville.
Pastor Shipman is a singer and wrote a song entitled, “My Hope is In Jesus” which was presented in the James Cleveland Gospel Music Workshop of America in 1993. Sheryl has one younger brother, Edward Jr., (Poncho).
Her favorite scripture is, “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up on wings as an eagle. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31.
